RECALL the BOARD

Tomato Tasting / General Meeting July

The Tomato Tasting and General Meeting and board election was held in July , last year (2007). Details were in the flyer mailed in July.*

* What is wrong with this? (hint: look at our bylaws regarding elections)

Banned Plants The following plants are banned and members will not plant them: Any officer but usually the president may remove a banned plant after the member has been notified and failed to comply. Any illegal plant, Sorghum, Passion Fruit, Cactus, Jerusalem artichoke, Datura (flowering vine), Morning Glory ( weed, domestic, flower), Sugar cane, Trees, Bamboo, Plumeria, Grapevines, 4 O'clock (the flower), Castor Bean, Mint (except in a container), Rose bushes, Potatoes of any kind (including yams and sweet potatoes), White and Black Nightshade, Petunias Gooseberries, Any perennial over 4 feet tall.

Mite & Blight --- how one person can kill more than 2000 tomato plants every year For the last 5 years Joanne Rice has been in charge of our "Mite & Blight" program. The goal had been to let us grow healthy tomatoes. The result has been brown dead tomato plants on almost every plot. Year after year. The problem? Joanne's "host watch" / "banned plants" garden walking is Voodoo and, as expected, hasn't worked.

Why do we keep doing the Voodoo? We Know it doesnt work. It is a "rule" and Joanne likes enforcing rules. It's time to change the rule or ruler. Your tomatoes will thank you.

ScientaArs sine sciennta nihil est

What is a crop? - A single harvest of one plant species. Have a look at the OED.

Anyone on the board ever ask you "how are we doing?"

Have you ever been asked for feedback on our rules?
